This is our camp picture?!

i might have jinxed it with the last post.

after getting completely cut from every district's budget... after fundraising tens of thousands of dollars to put on one camp... after the buses picked up 150 students from 6 different schools... after i drove in the most frightening conditions at 6:30 am...

camp gets cancelled.

the snow was too much for the camp site to keep up with. electricity was out and roads impassable.

take 2 in a couple months. let's go for may.

Tony Toni Tone was wrong

it DOES rain in southern california. i always clown on "Storm Watch fill-in-the-year" because usually it just means rain. but today... the huge downpour flooded my work parking garage and back streets i use to get out of work. then the fire alarm went off, and we evacuated the building. no electricity for the rest of the day, but i couldn't leave anyway because my car was trapped in the surface lot. we're standing outside, watching fire truck after fire truck go by, responding to any number of emergencies brought on by the rain and tornado warning. no cell phone, no phone numbers. i finally get the clear to drive off, and get stuck on a half mile stretch of the 710 for half an hour. talk about being ill prepared for minor emergencies.

Gangsta Hawk

we've been wondering for months now what's been killing the birds in our tree in front. some mornings there are feathers covering our lawn. other mornings there's a wing on the hood of the car parked out front. and today, this. he's getting more bold. about an hour ago, the hawk made another kill right in front of us, as we were relaxing in our living room. brutal. and pretty shocking. if i find a bird wing in my mailbox, i'm buying a bb gun.
